Why We Need A Plastic Free Economy

Kunal Bharti Political and Social Analyst Prime minister Narendra modi in his address to the nation on the 73rd Independence Day, urged the citizens of the country to work towards stopping the use of single-use plastic. He shared his vision of making India 'plastic-free' and raised a concern about indiscriminate use of plastics and ill-effects. He said, let us make India free of single-use plastics by October 2. PM Modi also encouraged the Indians to replace the use of plastic bags by cloth & Jute bags in order to protect the environment. According to a report, India produces over 550,000 tonnes of plastic waste every year which subsequently reaches ocean. Plastic waste raises serious problems for the life of aquatic and terrestrial life. It releases toxic chemicals, which is often the reason for the death of aquatic animals and even finds its way into the water supplied to our homes. Therefore, the limited and judicial use of plastic is the only way in which I

Government Reforms Health Sector

Abhishek Kumar The full potential of a nation can only be  realized  if its citizens are strong and healthy. However, in a country where about 276 million people are living below the poverty line, ensuring adequate healthcare access across various sectors is indeed a tough job. A number of government sponsored schemes have been introduced in the past, but most of them were ridden with numerous flaws. This posed consistent and significant challenges. It was primarily in order to counter these difficulties and provide an efficient healthcare system that the  Ayushman  Bharat health insurance scheme and a  bill on National Medical Council  was recently launched. Ayushman  Bharat - National Health Protection Mission  will have major impact on reduction of Out of Pocket (OOP) expenditure on ground of: •  Increased benefit cover to nearly 40% of the population (the poorest & the vulnerable) •  Covering almost all secondary and many tertiary hospitalizations (exce

Bye Bye Article 370 - A Corrective Action for Historical Mistake

This means that Jammu and Kashmir will no longer be a state and will be considered a Union Territory henceforth. While this move was being contemplated from a long time, it is being put into effect at present. This means that Jammu and Kashmir will no longer hold special rights, and even the Article 35A issued by the President of India on 14 May 1954 would be scrapped. The announcement came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed in Rajya Sabha that President Ram Nath Kovind has signed an order that would abrogate Article 370 from J&k. As soon as the announcement was made public, it sent social media across the world into a frenzy. Although the revocation of the article sharply divided opinion, it was talked about in every sphere. Revocation of article 370 in auspicious
